Building in Coastal Areas - 5 PDH

Email
The design and construction of residential buildings in coastal zones presents problems not usually found in more inland locations. For example, all elements of the building must be able to withstand the large forces associated with high wind speeds and coastal flooding; additional care must be taken in constructing a building envelope that will withstand the intrusion of air and moisture under the effects of high wind speeds; utilities must be protected and, usually, placed above the design flood elevation; and exterior construction materials must be selected for durability in a moist, sometimes salt-laden, environment. This course discusses design and construction aspects of the above problems, as well as numerous other features of the coastal construction process. Specific design and best practices recommendations are given, and detailed guides for inspections of the various building elements are described.

Generalized information for the most part. The course did keep my attention and I recommend it if you're interested in this subject.

Thank you for your quick response.  I can take unlimited courses for up to one year?  That means I can apply some of the courses for this year’s  deadline, and take additional courses after that toward my next period deadline!
